Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT)

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) is one of the most prestigious engineering entrance examinations in India. Conducted by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, BITSAT provides admission into the integrated first-degree programs offered at BITS Pilani, BITS Goa, and BITS Hyderabad campuses. This blog is specially created to give aspirants an in-depth look at BITSAT, covering its history, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, syllabus, preparation tips, and more.

All about BITSAT

BITSAT is an online computer-based test (CBT) that evaluates candidates on science subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Proficiency, and Logical Reasoning. The exam is highly competitive, with thousands of aspirants fighting hard in a race for a limited number of seats in one of India’s top private engineering institutions.

Tracing back to its establishment

BITS Pilani, established in 1964, is one of India’s premier higher education institutes. The BITSAT exam was introduced in 2005 as a standardized test for admission to its undergraduate engineering programs. Over the years, BITSAT has gained popularity among engineering aspirants and still continues to attract some of the brightest minds in the country.

Eligibility Criteria

To appear for BITSAT, candidates must meet certain academic and age-related criteria. The eligibility requirements are summarized in the table below:

Criteria Description
Academic Qualification
Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination (intermediate) from a recognized Central/State board or its equivalent with core subjects as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Minimum Marks
An aggregate score of at least 75% in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and at least 60% in each subject individually.
Year of Passing
Candidates who are appearing for the 12th exam in the current year or have passed the previous year are eligible.
Age Limit
No specific age limit, but candidates typically need to meet the 12th standard passing year requirement.

Note
